Bomberman Hero is a 3D platform game that takes place on five themed worlds. Each planet features multiple stages, some with branching paths, and culminates in a one-on-one showdown with a boss character. The Star Wars-inspired storyline involves rescuing Princess Millian from the evil Garaden Army. It seems the young princess stole a data disc from the empire, one that holds enough secrets to bring the organization to its knees. Millian’s loyal droid, Pibot, managed to escape and informs Bomberman of the dire situation. The stalwart hero agrees to put an end to the Garaden Army’s wicked ways.
Bomberman must use various explosive devices to defeat members of the Garaden Army. He can toss single bombs, roll multiple bombs simultaneously, jump-kick bombs, and detonate remote-controlled bombs. Bomberman can even acquire special gear allowing him to fly, hover, slide, or travel underwater. Located throughout the worlds are gems and crystals to collect that will add to Bomberman’s score or extend his life meter. Medals are also awarded after each level, with top scores unlocking mini-games and bonuses. A total of four save files are included on the cartridge for saving progress.
