Fans of the hit CBS television show can now become active participants in the search for evidence along with the cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Players assume the role of a lowly CSI intern as they prepare to solve five cases by visiting the crime scenes, collecting evidence using 14 forensic tools, having it analyzed, and interviewing potential suspects with the help of Las Vegas Police Detective Jim Brass. The goal for each case is to gather enough evidence to lead to an arrest, at which point another case will become available. After a mystery is solved, players will receive feedback from Gil Grissom on their performance and will be assigned an overall rating based on the total amount of information collected. After surveying the crime scenes of a slain police officer, murdered female, arson case, and more, players will be able to use such authentic tools as the UV Light to reveal dried fluids, the magnifying scope to look for fibers or hairs, and the print brush to dust for fingerprints. The action takes place from a first-person viewpoint with a mouse-driven interface that lets players navigate rooms, ask questions, and switch equipment. At various points during the investigation, players will converse with 3D models of Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows, and the rest of the team, including Greg Sanders and Al Robbins. To further immerse players into the world of CSI, the developers had the show’s scriptwriter, Max Allan Collins, write the game’s dialogue. In addition, all of the principal actors from the series recorded the voices for their characters.
