An early entry in Nintendo’s Puzzle League series, Tetris Attack is a tile-matching action puzzle game. As in the original Tetris, the game is played on a rectangular field that fills with blocks, but similarities end there. In Tetris Attack, the blocks push up from the bottom of the screen, and players must match three or more in a row or column to remove them from the field. Matches are made by swapping any two horizontally adjacent blocks, as selected with a zippy cursor. A password system allows players to save their progress. The Game Boy version of Tetris Attack offers five single-player modes: “Endless,” “Puzzle,” “Stage Clear,” “Time Trial,” and a competitive mode against a computer player. A two-player competitive mode is available through a link cable connection.
